The Energy Committee is focusing on reducing town and community energy consumption to save money and lower our reliance on fossil fuels to lower our carbon footprint.

We are interested in hearing from all citizens with ideas and suggestions on how we as a town can become more energy efficient in our everyday lives.

The committee will be focusing on getting all municipal buildings audited for energy efficiency and making recommendations on how we can improve our use of energy. We will be looking at vehicle usage as it related to fuel consumption and making recommendations to the Selectmen on ways they can improve our town vehicle fleet to conserve fuel. The Committee will also be exploring opportunities that exist through our local electricity provider and the Cape Light Compact for homeowners to have individual energy audits on their property.

The committee will disseminate information about home rehabilitation projects such as the TRI loan program which allows Oak Bluffs home owners who meet certain income guidelines to borrow up to $30,000 to make needed repairs to many items in your home such as plumbing, insulation, doors & windows, furnaces roofs, foundations, flooring, electrical and structural repairs to name a few. The pre-application with all the income guidelines is available here (Insert Link to attached word document)

Lastly we are always looking for new members to join us and help not only our individual residents but the town as a whole. Interested people should contact the Selectmen’s Office at 508-693-3554 x208 to inquire about joining our Committee.
